HCL Launches Ultra Cheap Laptops

The EEE PC that costs Rs. 18,000 in India but HCL has brought out a cheaper laptop at Rs. 14,000 with slightly lesser storage space and almost the same technical configuration of the EEE PC. Sources say that HCL worked with Intel for the chip design.

Now Intel is competing with ASUS in this market and by partnering with HCL and pricing their stuff lower they stand to gain a larger market share. The devices still seem expensive to me. I would buy the EEE PC immediately if it cost about Rs. 8000 since it has a screen that can be folded back and the unit can behave like a ebook reader which would be awesome for comics.

3D Acceleration

Most people don’t know that they need 3D acceleration to play games properly. This acceleration is provided by a special card that plugs into a AGP or PCI-E slot and performs the extremely complex calculations needed to render the gorgeous graphics and effects you see in the game.

Some cards are so complex that they do pixel shading and other calculations that are simply beyond the scope of the processor. The card clears up the load on the processor which can then do basic tasks better and make the game run properly.
